Hydropower & Natural Gas
3
Important details How is the energy source used to produce electricity? Is the energy source renewable or non renewable? Why? How long have humans is used this energy source? Give examples of were this use begun and how it was used It makes the water into electricity the dam holds back the water and the water that falls is the energy. Renewable because of the water cycle. It cycles its self from air, to land, and to water again. 2,000 years ago Greeks use water wheels to grind their wheat.
4
Pros and cons of hydropower Pros Causes little pollution Renewable Inexpensive Reduces the demand for fossil fules Cons Kills wild life Be effective by drought Large numbers of fish die each year Erosion problems Potential for floods
5
How is the energy form used in present day? List 5 examples To make energy Lots of electricity Used in millstones Wave power Tidal powers
6
Natural gas Important details How is the energy source used to produce electricity ? Describe the process. Is the energy renewable or nonrenewable? Why? How long have humans used this energy source? Give ex of where this use begun and how it was used. Heating the stove you can cook with it. Nonrenewable because it takes millions of years to form. Used for 21 years in grills.
7
Pros and cons of natural gas Pros Generates electricity Less air pollution Used for heating widely available Cleanest fossil fuel Cons Very flammable and explosive Pipe lines impact ecosystem Burns cleanly, but still has emission Cost are high Lack of infrastructure makes gas resources unavailable for some areas.
