For instance, a terrible earthquake attacked Taiwan on September twenty- first, 1999. The earthquake made many houses in Nantou( 南投 ) collapsed, and killed thousands of people.

Because the mountains of Taiwan are from the north part of Taiwan to the south part of Taiwan, the rivers which originate from the mountains run either east or west.
