Why we try to integrate RCL in LA The global environmental-, resources- and health crises today have impact on all science and all practical implementation. Landscape architecture is successively broadening – from green details to strategic planning Landscape architecture is a making science particularly suited for the planning, design and management of sustainable landscapes

Transformative trends for rural areas and communities Rural communities are urbanized Complete communities Rural land is franchized Local production restored Rural areas depopulated Repopulation of density immigrants Change factors Land prices are increasing Higher value for food and bioenergy production Environmental problems boost transformation to more local food Comprehensive planning goes from urban to inter-urban to urban and rural planning Result: A new rural – urban conception

Resilience = The ability of a living system to withstand changes over long time-periods through resistance and flexible adjustment. Citylands = Human settlements functionally integrated with green/blue structures in a range of scales (Urban-rural systems). Resilient Citylands = Resistent and flexible human settlements integrated with green/blue structures in a range of scales which can prevail over forseeable generations.
