Strong Motion Networks, K-NET and KiK-net in Japan
Wataru Suzuki , Takashi Kunugi, Shin Aoi (National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, Japan) COSMOS Strong Motion Forum at the 15WCEE, 25 September, 2012
1
K-NET and KiK-net observation stations
K-NET (surface stations, mostly located in peopled areas) KiK-net (pairs of surface and borehole seismographs) Borehole unit Observation facility Surface seismograph
2
Unified Website of K-NET and KiK-net
Respective Websites of K-NET and KiK-net closed, and a unified site opened on April 6, 2012. Unified Website provides Strong motion data (waveform and PGA list) of the earthquake during which the JMA seismic intensity of 2 or larger is registered Soil condition data down to 20 m depth for K-NET stations, and those to the depth of the borehole seismograph for KiK-net stations Realtime ground-motion monitor (Kyoshin monitor)
