3. 3 Meet the magic cicada There are 7 recognized species of magic cicadas. Three have a 17 year cycle.

4. 4 Home sweet Home Cicadas grow in ground and come out as adults. The 17 year cicadas live in the North Eastern United States. The 13 year Cicadas live in the southern States.

5. 5 Dinner time Cicadas need trees and bushes to survive. They eat the juices of the roots. They don’t hurt most plants.

6. 6 Animal Adaptations Cicadas emerge in a great mass from the ground. They come out in the spring when it is hotter than 62 degrees F. They only live for a few weeks as adults. The only thing they do is reproduce. If you put a cicada in a different habitat it will die.
