6 History The study of people and their recorded past “Pre-History” is the study of people before humans learned to write (15,000 years ago)

7 Geography The study of people, their relationship to the earth and their environment. Land, water, air, pollution, resources, etc.

8 Political Science The study of people and their government and laws. Leaders, laws, punishments, taxes, voting systems, etc.

9 Economics The study of people and how they use their resources. Jobs, money, trading systems, wealth, etc.

10 Anthropology The study of people and their cultures. Their “ways of life” religion, clothing, housing, education, laws, customs, food, sports, technology, money, etc.

11 Archaeology The study of people and their artifacts. Artifacts: are objects that were used by humans or made by humans Tools, cooking utensils, weapons, etc.

12 Sociology The study of people and their groups. Organizations, both formal and informal Girl Scouts, 8 th graders, skateboarders, etc.

13 Psychology The study of people and why they behave the way they do. “psyche” - the brain They study personalities and behaviors
