2. Otzi was a prehistoric man from a long, long, long time ago, about 5000 years old!! (WOW that’s old!) Otzi was a very important man because he had a copper axe, which you couldn’t get at the time, which means that man at the time new how to make metal!

3. Otzi was found in the Alps on the border of Italy and Austria. Otzi was found by two hikers from Germany, after they decided to take a detour from the path. The hikers saw a lump of brown and after looking at it more closely they realized they had found a frozen body in the meltwater.

4. Otzi had a lot of stuff with him so he could survive in the wild. Some of his stuff includes his clothes, most of which were made of animal hides and fur. Otzi was found with a very, very rare Copper Axe, which leads archaeologists to believe that people knew how to make metal 5000 years ago!!!

5. Otzi now has his own museum that is dedicated solely to his study called the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. Otzi the Iceman is in a refrigerated room so that he can be preserved for as long as possible. Every month the Iceman is cleaned and checked to see if he is still perfectly preserved as he should be.
