Car Wash We held a car wash to raise money to donate to the Second Harvest Food bank. There were only about six of us at the carwash so we had a rough time washing cars. Stacy and I stood on the corner holding signs for the majority of the time to try and attract customers. All together we raised about 160 dollars to donate to the hungry children of south Georgia.

My experience When we got to the food bank, we had to sign in and get official volunteer badges. We then had to watch a video to make sure that we were doing the right work in protecting people from getting bad food. As a group we had to sort through many boxes and organize the food inside them onto shelves. All of the food had to be put with like foods. We went through at least 45 boxes in a time period of an hour and a half.

S.L. Mason Field Day I volunteered at the local elementary school one Friday morning. It was their field day and they needed volunteers to help the kids with the activities. I was assigned to work with Ms. Regina at station number 7. At this station we had the kids roll at huge blow up globe that they had to roll around a few cones and work together to finish as fast as they could.

S.L. Mason Field Day (cont.) I had such a great time watching the kids roll the ball because it was almost as big as most of them. The little boys would try to roll over it and everyone would laugh and they all had a great time. It made me feel really good about myself to know that I was bringing laughter into their day.

Why should we volunteer? I think that community service and volunteer work is very important to a society. I learned so much from my experiences volunteering. I felt like I was helping so much with these people that I did not even know and it made me feel so good about myself.
