Class Description & Goals Elective for 7 th & 8 th graders GT, Pre-AP, Regulars, and Reading Improvement students Students read at their own level, interest, and speed Goals: 1.To develop self-directed, independent, lifetime readers & learners. 2.To develop an appreciation for a wide range of literature & genres. 3.To promote higher level thinking skills.

Class Schedule 1.At the sound of the bell, begin reading with binder open and on desk. 2.5-10 minute Mini-Lesson (2-3 times per week) 3.Individual reading assessments or conferences (as needed) 4.When the dismissal bell rings, pack up. “ Read from bell to bell”

Grading Policy Class Average: 50% Class Binder Grade (reading log, works cited, etc.) 50% Class Participation Grade (ready at the bell, prepared for class, on task, etc.) No Homework, Tests, or Quizzes…Ever…Honestly!!

The Adolescent Literature Library Started in 1989 with no books Now includes over 3400 books For use by Ad. Lit students only PTO graciously donates money each year for the purchase of additional books.
