Extra Credit (as assigned) 1.Find information about ‘big brother’ type surveillance cameras. Problems, cost, web site showing live camera views, etc. Discuss workplace monitoring. 2.Find examples of identify theft. Define it. Explain how it was done, the impact, and how to protect yourself. Define phishing. 3.What types of information do companies have and share about you? What are your rights relative to this information? How might it be abused? How can you protect yourself? 4.Define ergonomics. Present examples of ergonomically designed devices. How can the environment you encounter everyday (lab, classrooms, library) be better designed ergonomically? Select a local school or business and investigate their green computing policy. Do they: Mandate or recommend the purchase and operation of environmentally sensible IT equipment? Extra Credit 6.Discuss and define software licensing, site license, piracy, copyright, and pilferage. Research the case of Jon Johansen, the Norwegian teenager who cracked the encryption code that prevents DVDs from being copied. 7.Cookies: how are they used – good and bad. Show steps to disable cookies. 8.Define denial of service and tell how the e-mail hoax is related. Team Project Presentation due last week of class Projects not presented will receive no credit Team members will complete an evaluation for each team member, including yourself. Start early. I will answer questions on the project through April 14th. Project value: 100 points, included in the quizzes & assignments area

Team Project The project consists of 2 main parts. Part1: Create an Excel workbook to calculate a student’s potential and actual CSCI 101 class average. Part2: Create a web page calendar for either April or May using a table. Complete instructions are online at the CSCI 101 top page
