Norepinephrine Norepinephrine (NE) is an organic chemical that functions in the human brain and body as a hormone and neurotransmitter. . The general function of norepinephrine is to mobilize the brain and body for action. In the brain, norepinephrine increases alertness, enhances retrieval of memory, and focuses attention, it also increases restlessness and anxiety.

Alpha-2 adrenergic receptor
Alpha-2 receptor functions as a G protein coupled receptor. Alpha-2 receptors have inhibitory effects and are located on the surface of the cells that release norepinephrine.
