Relevance – Upper-limb prosthetic designs and treatment interventions are expanding faster than ability to measure their effectiveness. – Box and Blocks test is commonly used to measure manual dexterity, but has not been validated with upper-limb prosthetic users, or used in combination with motion analysis to look at quality of motion.

Data were collected: – Pre-TMR surgery with body-powered prosthesis. – 6 mo after being fitted with TMR myoelectric prosthesis. Box and Blocks test was modified for cyclical motion within motion capture laboratory.

With further study, this test procedure could be a useful outcome measure for future standardized assessments of upper-limb prosthetic function.
