3 Where is this New Year Celebrated?
In this presentation we are going to learn about the New Year the Mexican way. Each New Year, Mexicans gather together with their loved ones and friends to talk about the past year, and the goals they are going to set for the new year. The people of Mexico celebrate in restaurants where dinner is served, and dances are displayed. It takes place on the 1st of January like always.

4 Activity on the Holiday
The New Year’s is celebrated throughout the whole Mexico. There are many traditions and beliefs of the Mexican people. First of all, it is very traditional to eat 12 grapes at the moment of the countdown to welcome the new year coming in. Also, people sweep toward the outside of their homes to drive out everything bad from the earlier year. These traditions originated from the Spanish speaking country of Spain. Kids in Mexico use the holiday to participate in eating contests.

5 Are there similar Holidays?
New Year’s itself is celebrated around the world. As the neighboring country, we celebrate the New Year similarly as Mexicans with loved ones, family and friends gathering in restaurants. Both might seem like the same, but they are different because of the different traditions.

6 Delicious Foods! There are many different foods eaten during the Mexican New Year’s. Now that we have brought America into comparison, Spanish people in America also eat similar foods. These foods are all prepared by people. Here are three of the many foods: Ponche: Ponche is a toast made of sparkling cider and hot fruit punch. Ponche is served during the days leading up to New Years for good wishes. Lentils: Lentils is a high-protein edible pulse that is dried and cooked. It is eaten for prosperity for the upcoming year. Tamales: Tamales are cornmeal dumplings prepared with many fillings. Making tamales was a time to renew friendship and to make new friends.
