Be Humankind Learning Objective: What does it mean to be human?

E.g. loving How are these qualities shown? What happens if some of these qualities are missing? Are you still human? What happens if some of these qualities are missing? Are you still human?

Is this person still human? Is the physical aspect of being human important?

When do we stop being human? If we think that a human needs to be loving and caring etc, if we do not show these qualities, do we stop being human? Can we say that Hitler was human?

So what does being human mean? Each table is going to have 5 post it notes. On each post it note you need to write down one quality that you think people need in order to be human. Can you rank them? To be human you need to...

Humanity The quality of being humane; the kind feelings, dispositions, and sympathies of man; especially, a disposition to relieve persons or animals in distress, and to treat all creatures with kindness and tenderness.

Can you be human without having humanity? Hitler killed millions of people. Fred and Rose West murdered and tortured 13 girls.

Humanity You can either: Summarise what humanity means in your own words. Design a logo and slogan for humanity. OR Do both!
