How Do We Define: Lapsed, Dropped and S/R? l Lapsed Charter – From 1-60 days past charter renewal date (if charter is due 10/31, from 11/1-12/31) l Dropped Charter – From 61 days to a year past charter renewal date (if charter is due 10/31/98, from 11/1/98-10/31/99) l S/R (Separated/Re-chartered) –Within drop period, the unit is then reinstated

Why Is a Continuity of Unit Tenure Important? l Keep Present Membership Level l History Is Important to the Unit l The Charter Organization Will Continue to Have Confidence in the Scouting Program l Reduces Paperwork of Getting the Unit “Back on it's Feet” l If You Lose the Scouts to Another Unit, You May Never Get Them Back
