CARE SC meeting, CERN, 13th September, 2006. Power Couplers Task 7.1 New proto-types –“All-brazed” couplers received from CPI following TiN coating (just last week). –2 TTF-V couplers received prior to summer vacation. Not centered on 1300 MHz! S 11 is only 11 dB. –Second pair of TTF-V couplers had window coating problem. They will be re-coated.

CARE SC meeting, CERN, 13th September, 2006. Power Couplers Task 7.2 Construction of TiN coating Bench Contract signed with Italian company for construction of bench. Delivery ~ July 2007. Based on magnetron sputtering under vacuum. Tests have been performed on TiN samples coated on an alumina substrate to verify the chemical composition.

CARE SC meeting, CERN, 13th September, 2006. Good linearity Apparent lack of symmetry Maybe due to steering magnets (saturation, residual field) ?? Summary of BPM tests in August 2006 – 1/2

CARE SC meeting, CERN, 13th September, 2006. RMS resolution: ~ 40 µm (depending on beam jitter) Theoretical resolution: 15 µm Aim to improve the resolution while maintaining the dynamci range Remove attenuators (~ -3 dB) ---> resolution <10µm (in theory) Change the power mixer (input RF power ~ 16 dBm) ---> resolution < 1 µm (theoretically) Summary of BPM tests in August 2006 - 2/2

CARE SC meeting, CERN, 13th September, 2006. Status of HOM Activity at FLASH Cavity relative misalignments measured in ACC4 and ACC5 BPM-like resolution measured around 10 µm for position and 200 µrad for angle Thesis of Rita Paparella finished, examination on September 22. Journal publication submitted collectively to PRST-AB, this month. Residual of the x offset prediction using the HOM analysis for cavity #5 in module #5.
