3 Phrases  Prepositional phrase  Appositive phrase

4 Prepositional Phrase Starts with the preposition, ends with it’s object, and includes all the words in between ex. The mouse is under his desk. The store is around the corner.

5 Adverbial phrase  A prepositional phrase that acts as an adverb Ex. The rock climbers arrived late at night. Maria lost her bag at the band concert.

6 Adjectival  A prepositional phrase that acts as an adjective Ex. The price of the book was too expensive. Something in the corner of the room was moving.

7 Appositive Phrase A noun or noun phrase that renames a noun right beside it. ex. Mr. Sacco, the kooky teacher, is insane. My beagle, Kenzie, barked at my neighbors.

8 Participial Phrase  A verb form (past or present) that functions as an adjective, plus its modifiers. Ex., Alicia tripped and fell. Running down the street Participial Phrase

9 Blinded by the light, Sarah walked into the concert hall. The astronaut chosen to ride to Mars is afraid of heights. The car sliding out of control will hit the building.
