Categories Tab Click Add to make a new Category Require a Number and a Name Only Product Codes Only informational and cannot be edited NACS standard Allows the network to see what is being purchased. 10 CONFIDENTIAL Where is Merchandise Configured? Departments A maximum of 9999 departments can be configured with the Commander/RubyCi. Some departments such as 9990, 9991, 9998, and 9999 are used by the terminal already and cannot/must not be altered. Departments require a name, number and a product code only. Other properties are optional, but may be required depending upon the use of the department. –Negative departments must have a product code set to a value higher than 904. Departments require a key to be assigned to the keyboard or touchscreen to be used. This will be covered in a later webinar. 12 CONFIDENTIAL Where is Merchandise Configured? Parameters for creating PLUs are similar to Departments Must have a number, name, and department Product code should be left blank for PLU as it will pull from the assigned department. The Negative department setting will also affect PLUs. All other parameters are independent to the PLU. PLU’s can be retrieved through the Retrieve PLU function PLUs 12 = PLU# 2193511112

CONFIDENTIAL Where is Merchandise Configured? PLU Parameters 13 Description Price Sell Unit Department Product Code Fee ID Check Taxes Blue Laws Open Not sold Promo

CONFIDENTIAL Where is Merchandise Configured? Our system supports the concept of “modifiers” to provide a mechanism to more specifically define the product when the same barcode is used to indicate different packaging of the same product. This is seen most often on canned soda (singles, 6-packs, etc). The combination of the PLU# and modifier uniquely identifies a product along with its price, taxability and other information. For most PLUs, this modifier value is zero. PLU Parameters - Modifiers 14

CONFIDENTIAL Where can I change prices for multiple PLU’s all at once? Group price change allows PLU prices to be adjusted based on their assigned department. Prices can be increased by amount, percentage, or be set to the same price. All PLU prices can be changed or items can be selected from the list to update only the highlighted PLUs. Click Save to make the changes you’ve configured. Be sure to log out of sales mode and back in to get these updates! Group Price Change 15

CONFIDENTIAL Key Points to Remember Departments are required, even if they are not being used to ring up sales. PLU’s product code field should be left blank, as it will pull the product code from the department. Categories are optional and are used for reporting purposes. 16
