2 * The subject is the person, place, or thing that is doing an action or the action is happening to the subject. * Ex: The man jumped into the pool.

3 * The simple subject is a noun or pronoun such as he, she, cat, city,etc. * Ex: She is dressed as an angel.

4 * The complete subject is a noun or pronoun with an adjective. * Ex: The black cat was awake through the night.

5 * A compound subject is two or more subjects joined by a conjunction. * Ex: Carrie and Claire are singing on stage.

6 * The predicate follows the subject and tells where it is, what it acts like, does or what happened to it. * Ex: The tiger jumped into the ring of fire.

7 * It is a complete verb or a verb and any helping verbs * Ex: The couple was dancing.

8 * It is a simple predicate plus an adjective. * Ex: The teacher was reading loudly.

9 * It is one or more predicates with the same subject. * Ex: Tommy was singing quietly and sweetly.
