Composite Figures Finding the area Finding the perimeter
2
First separate the figure into figures which you can find the area Second determine any length which were not given in original figure Third find the area of each separate figure Fourth add all the separate areas together Fifth find the perimeter
3
1)Rectangle A = l w A= 4 * 3 A = 12 cm 2 2) Trapezoid A = ½ h ( a + b) A = ½ 8 ( 7 +10) A = 4 (17) A = 68 cm 2 TOTAL AREA 12 + 68 = 80 cm 2 10 cm 3cm
4
1)Rectangle A = l w A = 12 * 4 A = 48 cm 2 2) Triangle A = ½ b h A = ½ * 6 * 4 A = 12 cm 2 TOTAL AREA 48 + 12 = 60cm 2 4cm 6 cm
5
1)Square A = s 2 A = 3 2 A = 9 in 2 2) Rectangle A = l w A = 9 * 2 A = 18 in 2 TOTAL AREA 18 + 9 = 27 in 2
6
1)Square A = s 2 A = 3 2 A = 9 cm 2 2) Square A = 9 cm 2 3) Rectangle A = l w A = 11 * 3 A = 33 cm 2 TOTAL AREA 9 + 9 + 33 = 51 cm 2
7
1)Rectangle A = l w A = 10 * 14 A = 140 mm 2 2) Semicircle A = ½ pi r 2 A = ½ * 3.14* 72 A = ½ * 3.14 *49 A = 76.77 mm 2 TOTAL AREA 140 + 76.77 mm 2
