Chapter 2: The Lens
2
Focal Length is the distance between the center of a lens and the film plane when focused at infinity
3
Different Focal Lengths have different Angles of View
4
Aperture = Focal Length / Diameter Aperture controls the amount of light entering the camera & Depth of Field
5
Depth of Field = the depth of the Plane of Sharp Focus (The plane on which the camera is focused or sharp)
6
Bokeh is the result of a very wide aperture
7
Wider depth of field = more focus
8
Plane of Sharp Focus can vary depending on your Depth of Field
9
Opening Up = More light Stopping Down = Less light
10
Plane of Sharp Focus can vary depending on your Depth of Field f/1.8 f/8 f/22
11
Use your Focusing Ring to set the Plane of Sharp Focus
12
Keep in mind, changing your aperture affects your light meter reading… f/1.8 @ 1/1000s
13
So when you change your aperture, you must also change your shutter speed f/1.8 @ 1/1000s f/11 @ 1/15s
