How will I ever find anything on this computer in the library?
3
Don’t be nervous! Let’s grab a stool and sit down in front of the OPAC screen. Come on now…
4
Here is what the Sagebrush OPAC screen looks like: It’s not TOO scary looking - is it?
5
Let’s take a look at the tabs on top: Library Search: Use this tab to search the library’s catalog. My List: Use this tab to create a list by copying items from the search list. You can customize the list before saving it to a file using the ‘sort by’ option. My Library Info: Use this tab to view information about your library account It will show you: Books you have checked out. Holds you have placed on books. Fines on your account for lost or past due books.

7
KEYWORD search: Searches for your word anywhere in the catalog entries. Finds all the records containing the word you entered. Gives the most hits.
8
SUBJECT search: Also searches for your word anywhere in the catalog entries Narrows down the materials retrieved. Finds all the materials containing the subject word you entered.
9
AUTHOR search: Enter the Author’s last name, then first name. Be sure to put a comma in between. This search works best if you know the author’s name. If you don’t know the first name - You can use the last name only.
10
TITLE search: Enter the title (name) of the book you are looking for. You don’t have to have the whole title…but the more of the title you remember, the better your chance of finding it. Remember, if the title starts with “The”, use the next word for this search.
