Issues i.11857 Cook cum helpers are not engaged. ii.Less coverage of Working days 151days against 166 days. iii.Food grains utilization is only 50%. iv.3206 Kitchen cum stores are yet to be constructed. v.Coverage RBSK : 24% Health Checkup, 32% IFA distribution.

Irregular payments are given to the cooks/helpers almost all the sample school. It takes much time to reach funds from district to SHG/ School. The school head teacher/ SHGs/Cooks manages the same by borrowing from the local market. Inspection/monitoring mechanism are poor. The grievance redressal mechanisms are poor in the school. Poor performances of school health program. Too many SHGs are involved in the cooking process in single school. Poor community participation in the MDM. 4 Issues Highlighted by MIs

Best Practices i.Cooks are paid Rs.1500. 87050 CCH have bank accounts ii.In Kolkata, two eggs are served in a week. Fishes served to in districts, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas and in Sundarban areas. iii.Direct fund transfer through CBS from State to the Blocks, Municipalities & Municipal Corporations relating Cooking Cost & Honorarium to cooks. iv.2700 Cook cum helpers and 1000 teachers were trained at SIMS School of Hotel Management, Burdwan. v.Sankrail block of West Medinipur made arrangement for procurement of model hygiene kit centrally to be distributed to all schools within its jurisdiction.
