Question #3: Do you think the Achievement Gap is a cultural problem? Student Responses: Race is a part of the Achievement Gap. Your race can lower your statistics. But it doesn’t effect your success. It is a problem because African Americans are profiled more than anybody else or any other race because of the color of their skin. Race is factored into the achievement, because statistics has put us in groups based on our race and where we live. The Achievement gap is not a cultural thing to me because my mom or dad can choose to steal, lie and cheat but I can choose to live an honest life. No because your cultural doesn’t determine where you are. People can be racist and not want you to be successful 4/8/2015Achievement Gap Gallery Walk Questions/Stacey Leigh3

T & J Honestly I think it will stay the same. It will go down because people wanna be something they aren’t. I don’t know. Probably the same unless really good job opportunities are available. It will probably stay the same unless people get more opportunities. I think the achievement gap will increase more in 5 years. The way the world is right now I believe that the Achievement Gap will rise rapidly. I say this because as me being a young black male growing up where I do people are letting there communities decide what they are going to do in life. So I believe the numbers for blacks will become lower. 4/8/2015Achievement Gap Gallery Walk Questions/Stacey Leigh6
