What are we trying to get out of a shallow cross 1.We want to throw the shallow! 2.We will try to isolate a linebacker that we think struggles in space and try to get him in a hi-lo situation. 3.The shallow is going to be thrown to a dynamic athlete. 4.The dig is going to be thrown to a bigger body target. Split End or TE. 5.Important after the catch. Get Vertical. Getting Vertical After the Catch At first opportunity put your foot in the ground and up field. You should never be tackled from the side. Understand that defenders that are taught properly pursue from all angles.
