SO…WHAT PROJECT WAS THAT? Please take out your project directions. What is it that you are doing? Writing a letter to the BOE convincing them that your book will address the essential question of the unit. OR writing a letter to the BOW why your book does not fit in the unit

NOW WHAT- THE HEADINGS Compose your letter Heading 1 (Provides a Return Address- minus your name) Heading 2 (Provides the Date) Use 2-8 Spaces Heading 3 (Inside Address) Double Space Salutation (Dear Mrs./Mr.) followed by colon Double Space

NOW- THE CONTENT The body of a business letter contains Opening: State why you are writing Middle: give the audience they proof they require Closing: Focus on a course of action- What should happen next?

SO…HOW DO YOU DO THIS? Copy the heading Provided Your Opening Paragraph: why your are writing this letter (Add or Don’t Add) and why you feel modern material should be added to the unit. Middle Paragraphs: These are the paragraphs where proof of your claim is given 3 examples of how (or not) you book relates to the essential question of the unit An explanation of each example 3 examples of how this book relates (or not) to modern issues An explanation of those examples This should be at least 2 paragraphs Closing Paragraph- What should the BOE do with your information

HOW TO END After Closing Paragraph: Double Space Complimentary Closing (Sincerely, Respectfully…) Then 4 spaces- This is where you will sign your name The signature block- Type your name and position Enclosures: Reading Log
