4. In Mythology Poseidon lived at the bottom of the sea, and used his trident to rule the waves. Was an important deity for sea-faring Greeks. Poseidon failed to become the patron of Athens, as he was in contest with Athena and lost. Poseidon created a well with his trident; however, it was salt water and not very useful to the population.
