Let’s dive right in… Find the value of two numbers if their sum is 56 and their difference is 16.

Here’s another… The sum of two different numbers is 34. The difference of six times the first number and ten times the second number is 60. What are the two numbers?

Now that we’re warmed up… Kristin spent $131 on shirts. Fancy shirts cost $28 and plain shirts cost $15. If she bought a total of 7 then how many of each kind did she buy?

Still warm… To win a basketball game, one team scored 123 points. They made a total of 50 two- pointers and three-pointers. How many of the baskets were worth 2 points, and how many were 3 pointers?

Aren’t we having fun? The school that Stefan goes to is selling tickets to a choral performance. On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 30 senior citizen tickets and 20 youth tickets for a total of $600. The school took in $637.50 on the second day by selling 35 senior citizen tickets and 15 youth tickets. Find the price of a senior citizen ticket and the price of a youth ticket.

Almost there… The senior classes at Walk High School and Run High School planned separate trips to New York City. The senior class at Walk High School rented and filled 1 van and 6 buses with 372 students. Run High School rented and filled 4 vans and 12 buses with 780 students. Each van and each bus carried the same number of students. How many students can a van carry? How many students can a bus carry?

Last one! Matt and Susanna are selling fruit for a school fundraiser. Customers can buy small boxes of oranges and large boxes of apples. Matt sold 3 small boxes of oranges and 14 large boxes of apples for a total of $203. Mary sold 11 small boxes of oranges and 11 large boxes of apples for a total of $220. Find the cost each of one small box of oranges and one large box of apples.
