Preparing for your Job Interview: Part 1 Possible questions with answers Harry H. Holdorf
2
Q: What are your weaknesses? A. I tend to be too hard on myself. I suppose that comes from my upbringing, where my family taught us to do a job right the first time with 100% attention to detail.
3
Q: What are your strengths? A: I want to own a job, chore, goal. It’s mine to see through. I will ask impute from others and I do delegate well, but in the end, it’s my name that is on it.
4
Q: Why do you want this job? A. This job is what I have been preparing for all my life. This is my dream, to be able to make a difference. And it’s here that I think I can make this happen.
5
Q: Where do you picture yourself in 5 years? A: Right here. This job has opportunities that I find very attractive. I feel we can do something great here, and I want to be part of it.
6
Q: What attracted you to this company? A: This company has a fine reputation within the community. As far as I’m concerned, when I am asked where do I work, I would be mighty proud to say that I work here. You do great work here.
7
Q: Why should we hire you? A: I can help. I have the skills and ambition to make a difference. This is where I want to be.
8
Q: What did you like least about your last job? A. Nothing. It was a very good job, with good people who care. But, when I heard that I had an opportunity to work for you here, then that was it. I knew I had to apply.
9
Q: What can you do for us that other candidates can’t? A: I’m not sure. I bet all of your candidates who make it this far are fine individuals. I just know that if you hire me, I will call this my home. I will give you everything that I have to make your company and staff better.
10
Q: Why do you think a manhole cover is round? A: I guess that makes it easier to lift up? It has holes in it, so you can put a pipe in one of the holes and lift it easier if it’s round, right? You have to lift those things to get somewhere beneath it, right?
11
Q: Why is there fuzz on a tennis ball? A. I don’t know. I guess to slow it down a bit? They hit those things pretty hard. It may also make them easier to handle. They have to throw them up in the air to serve them.
12
Q: If you could have one super power, what would it be? A: I guess I would like to be super strong. That way, I could help people, like superman and supergirl.
13
Q: What salary are you seeking? A: Competitive. I just want what is fair and competitive.
14
Q: If you were selected for this position, can you describe your strategy for the first 100 days? A: I would need to know the lay of the land. Know who to contact. The chain of command is very important: who do I report to? Policies and procedures need to be learned, as well as protocols and departmental rules and regulations. Also, I would want to get on the call schedule as soon as possible. You have excellent medical imaging machines here, and I really want to see how they work. Also, I would need to look at and learn the Quality Control program you have in place here. That is also very important.
15
Q: What kind of goals would you have in mind if you got this job? A: To be able to provide the best quality patient care to our patients and service to our physicians. I would accomplish this by maintaining my credentials and seek to obtain more credentials. I believe that credentialing, licensure, and accreditation are the foundations of quality patient care.
