Open for Business Project  This project includes 9 steps to think about when creating a business.  Each step will require a slide and each slide is worth 10 points.  You will present the slide presentation of you business for an additional 20 points.  You will be graded by me and the other members of your group.  Have fun and good luck –  Make your business a SUCCESS

2. Part 1 – Whose Business is it Anyway?? Choose your group – –Can you work with them –Will they carry their load Name your group and discuss your business. Tell about the name of your business ** Be sure you have answered the following questions. –Name of business and owners –Location of business –Product or service sold –Create a flyer announcing the opening of this business. What needs to be on this flyer?

3. Part 2 – Type of Ownership How will this business be owned? –Sole proprietorship and the others just workers? –Partnership? How is the ownership divided? Make your certificate in PUBLISHER –Corporation? Are you going to sell shares? How many? Who is the majority share holder? Make your certificate of incorporation in PUBLISHER

4. Part 3 – Image What do you want your image to be Which market segment is most likely to buy your product? How does your location fit in with your image?

5. Part 4 – Who is your customer base. Are they all from the Bloomington/Normal area? What ages Male or female? How/Why is your product attractive to them?

6. Part V – Trade Analysis Why do you believe you can make a profit with this business? Who are your competitors? Where are they located? What will you do to be better than they are? What makes you different?

7. Part 6 – Store Layout Using a program of your choice –Word –Publisher –Powerpoint – make a diagram of how your store will look –You may also use pictures from the internet.

8. Part 7 - Personnel How will your store be staffed? Why? How much will you have to pay your employees? What other benefits will you offer them?

9. Part 8 – Promotion You may attach into this slide show a commercial. Or, you may use your own video equipment or a camera from school. You may record voices and use pictures, or an entire video tape. Photostory is a good program for doing this. This must be at least 20 seconds long – no longer than 2 minutes.

10. Conclusion What did your group learn form this assignment? Did you work well together Was the work evenly divided? You will rate the others in your group. Will this business really make it?
