2 Multiprocessing is the simultaneous processing of the same task on two or more microprocessors in order to obtain faster results. The computer resources can include a single computer with multiple processors, or a number of computers connected by a network, or a combination of both. The processors access data through shared memory. Some supercomputer multiprocessing systems have hundreds of thousands of microprocessors. With the help of multiprocessing, a number of computations can be performed at once, bringing down the time required to complete a project. It is particularly useful in projects that require complex computations, such as weather modeling and digital special effects. Let's take a real-life example to understand the efficiency of this type of processing. What is Multiprocessing?

3 A laboratory (informally, lab) is a facility that provides controlled conditions in which scientific or technological research, experiments, and measurement may be performed. What is Research Laboratory? The labs can be used for:  Usability and Accessibility testing of OU online media  Developmental testing of online course materials  Research field work data capture (mobile Lab)  Ambient technology research scenario mock up (e.g. Library, museum, dance floor, home)  Focus group research data capture  Research prototype device testing (e.g. interactive surface devices)  Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) observations  Podcast recording (individual)  Eye tracking services

4 Technologies used in Multiprocessing

5  Research Laboratory purpose  Product Development Process  Needed Work Environment  Virtual Machines  Hadoop In Practice, Map Reduce  Structured Data: Big Table & Hbase  Warehousing with Hive  Linux Commands  Java Collections  Java Realization  Working on Project What does this course cover ?
