(page 59) Kinship – family relationship, close connection. : His mind had shut out all of the earlier emotions: the anticipation, excitement, pride, and even the happy kinship with his friends. (page 59) Jaunty – easy and care-free. : Earlier that day, dressing in his own dwelling, he had practiced the kind of jaunty, self-assured walk that he hoped he could make to the stage when his turn came. (page 60)

CONNECTER BY MERCEDIAS BARLEY In this chapter Jonas’ got his job chosen as a receiver. Now and days we get to choose our own unless we have very strict parents. How would you feel if you got your job chosen for you? y

INTERPRETER BY RICKY CONTRERAS Why does Jonas have to be the receiver? If he rejects his assigned job would he be released? Why would they skip him and keep him waiting?

SUMMARIZER by Santiago Silva Jonas became the receiver of memory and he was scared but everyone was encouraging. He had to do it alone and they had thought about it for him to be a receiver and they told him he had all of the qualities to be a receiver. Jonas found out he had a special quality called the capacity to see beyond. In this chapter Jonas realizes that he has to take a bigger responsibility and he doesn’t know if he can handle it.
