3 The Great Wall *Click to see a few pictures of The Great Wall* The Great wall is located in Beijing. It was used to keep out enemies. The Great Wall is so long, astronauts can see it from space! It is about 15,000 miles long! Inside The Great Wall, is the Forbidden City, which was used long ago by the emperors of China. It is 250 acres of paradise, beautiful walkways, nice gardens, and all roofs are yellow and curved to keep the bad spirits away. The Great Wall took 3,000 workers and 10 years to make it.

7 Law and Government Before 1949, dynasties ruled China. China’s last emperor was only 6 years old! China’s national symbol is the panda. Since China has such a large population, a family is only allowed to have one child. In all, China had 13 emperors. China has remarkable congress. The Forbidden City is now a museum called the Palace Museum. A common language in China is Mandarin.

8 A Terracotta Army *Click to see some pictures of the terracotta warriors* Nobody knows when they were made, but in 1974, an army of 8,099 terracotta warriors, some on horses, some on feet, were discovered by several local farmers. The terracotta warriors were made individually, one per person. They were buried with the emperor, to protect him from the afterlife. They were buried with the emperor of Qin 210 B.C.

11 Customs *Click to see a picture of China’s flag* China’s national sport is ping-pong. China’s #1 crop is rice. They also grow cotton, and tea. There are about 500 airports in China. Wow! That’s a lot of airports! People in China mostly Mandarin, and their religion is Buddhism. They have lots of food like fish, soup, Peking duck, and lots of vegetable. Wow! Some people probably are on a diet!

13 Physical Features In China 33.3 percent are mountains. There are lots of rivers and lakes in China. China also has one of the world’s largest rivers. There is 5 of the largest mountains in the Himalayas. The Highest mountain is Mount Everest is about 29,835 feet long. The second is the K2 it is 28,238 feet long. The third is the Kangchenjunga.It is 28,208 feet tall. The fourth is Lhotse. It is 27,823 feet tall. Sorry there is a delay for the last one. We don’t know what it is. Shanghai is the biggest city in China with 17 million people in the city.

14 Amazing Inventions China invented many things. They invented silk, kites, paper, Paper money, gun power, compasses, and also noodles. Silk was invented 4,000 years ago. Kites were made 3,000 years ago. Paper was also made 2,000 years ago. Paper money, gun power and the Compass were all made 1,000 years ago. Wow! So many inventions.

17 Chinese Horoscope Did you ever know that the Chinese believe in horoscope? It goes by animal! It goes like this rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and boar. Each kind of animal has different personalities. The rat is very popular, the ox a good listener, the tiger is brave, the rabbit is trustworthy, the dragon has good health, The snake likes books, the horse is cheerful, the sheep are wise, the monkey is funny, the rooster is talented, the dog is loyal and the boar is a good student.
