Do now! Can you continue the questions you started last lesson?

Last lesson Reactivity series and displacement reactions

Reactivity Series potassium sodium lithium calcium magnesium aluminium zinc iron tin lead copper silver gold

Displacement reactions A more reactive metal will displace a less reactive metal

Displacement reactions - Thermite 2Al + Fe 2 O 3 Al 2 O 3 + 2Fe YouTube - Thermite on Car YouTube - Thermite Experiment

Today’s lesson Conditions needed for rusting (again!) Rust protection Sacrificial protection

Conditions for rusting

Rusting Rust is a form of iron oxide. It has water bonded loosely to it. It is called hydrated iron oxide Copy!

In order for iron to rust Both air and water’s a must, Air alone won’t do Without water there too, So protect it, or get a brown crust! It’s actually the oxygen in air Copy too!
