3. Course objective Students will be able to identify daily English conversation such as time, people, location and topics, and know how to make the best response.

4. Students’ background 20 non-English major freshmen Finished the daily conversation lesson already. Most of them graduated from vocational high schools. Two-hour English listening classes per week for 18 weeks.

5. Test items Time: 2 mins for introduction. 12 mins for the test. Question-Response for 10 Short Conversations for 4 Sentence Writing for 4

6. Question-Response Q1 & Q2- Identifying Time Q3 & Q4- Identifying People Q5 & Q6- Identifying an Opinion Q7- Identifying a Choice Q8- Identifying a Suggestion Q9- Identifying a Reason Q10- Identifying a Location

7. Short Conversations Q1- Identifying Time Q2-Identifying People Q3-Identifying the Topic Q4- Identifying the Location

8. Scoring Question-Response 40 points -each question for 4 points. Short Conversations 28 Points -each question for 7 points. Sentence Writing 32 Points -each question for 8 points.

9. Score range Scores around 80: are usually able to understand the details of spoken and extended English. Toeic scores is around 400. Scores around 60: may be able to get the general idea from the context once the vocabulary is not difficult. Toeic score is around 300. Scores around 40: need much more help in their listening comprehension.Toeic score is around 200.
