Do Now: How do you think Hamlet will react to Ophelia’s death? HW: Read Act 5, Scene 1.

How does Claudius use and manipulate Laertes own grief and anger? What is the plan for Hamlet? Laertes will challenge Hamlet to a fencing duel. Laertes will be fighting with a sharp sword – able to wound. The tip of the sword will contain poison. If Hamlet avoids getting wounded or even grazed by the sword, Claudius will be ready with a poisoned cup. Ruthless Claudius

Ophelia will have a funeral, but it will not be without drama. Let’s take a moment and eulogize her and remember this most innocent character in this tragedy full of sinful, vengeful characters. Take on the perspective of ONE of the following: Hamlet Gertrude Laertes Yourself Remembering Ophelia
