W ORKSHOP L AYOUT Class Coordinators will give a 5 minutes introduction Then the class will be divided into 6 groups, where each group will take a handout with the points which are to be applied to the selected Biblical text they have. You may use real coloured hats to attract the attention and demonstrate the idea, each group will present the use of its hat from the Biblical text. “Put on” and “Put off” as they are reading. All group will have 10 minutes to discuss and relate the skill with the Biblical text, then 5 minutes to present. Conclusion by class coordinators will take 10 minutes

3. I NTRODUCTION Six Thinking Hats allows us to conduct our thinking as a conductor might lead an orchestra. It also gives us a clue about how to switch people out of their usual track in order to get them to think differently about a mater at hand (which is the church order in our situation) This technique helps in sorting out which thinking direction you are using, and which direction you need to shift for ( even for a while ) All normal people are using all the six hats It is not to a way for categorizing people, but modes of behaviour.

S IX T HINKING H ATS White Hat :  Give facts in a neutral manner, concerned about objective facts and/or figures - never mind about interpretation (White is neutral and objective)  Information Red Hat :  Give the emotional view (Red suggests emotions)  Express feeling, emotions and intuition without any need to explain or justify them Black Hat :  Point at problems and risks in a cautious and careful way (Black suggests seriousness)  The most used in all hats

5. Yellow Hat :  Focus on benefits and best scenarios, with Optimism. Covers hope and positive thinking (Yellow Colour is Sunny and Positive)  Where are these benefits from reality Green Hat :  Possible alternatives and new approaches and ideas (Colour of Vegetation and fertile growth) Blue Hat :  Controlling other hats, setting the thinking task (since blue is the colour of the sky which is above everything else)  Finalize and draw the conclusion S IX T HINKING H ATS

B IBLE A PPLICATION (1 S AMUEL 25) No Hat : No thinking Verse 13 ( David and his men girded on their swords ) White Hat : Facts (Neutral) Verse 14 – 17 ( The young boy ) Green Hat : Creative ( Implicit in the whole story; Inside Abigail’s mind, she did not go for the normal reaction; she refused to give up by running away or even talk to Nabal ) Yellow Hat : Positive Verse 18 – 20 ( Abigail took the initiative and went to David ) Red Hat : Emotional Verse 23 -24 ( Abigail Fell on her face before David ) Black Hat : Serious and Cautious Verse 31 ( Warning David from regret ) Blue Hat : Relaxed and Controlling Verse 32 – 35 ( David used this Master Hat to take the decision and he finally Changed his mind )

C OPTIC C HURCH O RDER To introduce the Coptic Church Order you need to wear the 6 Hats: White Hat :  To Give Facts & Information Red Hat :  To Give the emotional view : The Church our Mother prepared special Hymns to suit every occasion, Sorrowful Hymns(The Holy Week of Pascha), Joyful Hymns ( The 50 Days of The Holy Pentecost) … etc.  Our Church delivers to us its emotions in a way without any need to explain or justify them

Black Hat :  Our Church always Points at the goal of our existence in this life – The Eternal Life  This is Clear in the Sacraments – Repentance and Confession, Agpeya Prayers, The Litanies of The Liturgy, Saints ….etc.  Our Chruch always directs our Attention to be cautious, careful and serious about our Final Destination. Yellow Hat :  Focus on benefits and best scenarios, with Optimism. Covers Hope and positive thinking  Heading to the East  واهدينا إلى ملكوتك – كرحمتك يا رب وليس كخطايانا C OPTIC C HURCH O RDER

Green Hat :  Possible alternatives and new approaches and ideas; if somebody can’t read the Bible, he will hear it in the Mass, he will see it pictured on the Church Icons.  We need to start with this Hat on introducing our Church Order for the First Time to Somebody Blue Hat :  We’ll get to wear it when we develop this deep understanding about our Church Order, by then we’ll see the whole picture clearly (since blue is the colour of the sky which is above everything else)  Always try to notice which hats; your audience are wearing? they might have been looking for the facts behind symbols (White Hats) or even the Red Hat with angry emotions.
