First Created in Japan in 1919

HISTORY Jan 18, 1887 Amphetamine was first synthesized by German chemist 1919 Methamphetamine, more potent and easy to make, discovered in Japan 1930's Amphetamines are first marketed as 'Benzedrine' in an over-the- counter inhaler to treat congestion. 1937 Amphetamine is first available in tablet form by prescription for use in the treatment of narcolepsy and ADHD World War II Amphetamine widely distributed to soldiers to help them keep fighting. 1942 Dextro-amphetamine and methamphetamine become commonly available. 1970 Amphetamine becomes illegal with the passage of the 'U.S. Drug Abuse Regulation and Control Act of 1970'.

World War Ii Became available in tablet form to later be used by soldiers in WW II. Used by: Germany Japan great Britain united states.

METHAMPHETAMINE 1951 became a regulated drug used for obesity, ADD & ADHD, and asthmatics. 1960 became popular with outlaw motorcycle gangs (crank). 1980 Mexican nationals began producing illegally for the drug trade in the USA. These labs started small but now are creating methamphetamine in mass quantity.
