Africa Climate-Smart Agriculture Alliance Aims to promote the resilience of African smallholder farmers, particularly women and vulnerable groups Wants to help 25 million farm households adopt climate-smart agriculture by 2025 Wants to strengthen farmer, community, local NGO and local extension service levels

3. The Global Alliance has three aims 1.Sustainable and equitable increases in agricultural productivity and incomes; 2.Greater resilience of food systems and farming livelihoods; and 3.Reduction and/or removal of greenhouse gas emissions associated with agriculture wherever possible. Aims to help 500 million farmers by 2030

4. Today there is enough food for everyone to be well-fed, yet one person in eight still goes to bed hungry. The world’s population expected to be more than 9 billion people by 2050 Food production needs to increase by 60 per cent to feed all these extra people.

5. The biggest increases in population will be in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Four in ten (44%) of the people most vulnerable to a changing climate are already surviving at the edge of subsistence.
