+ What is a habitat? A habitat is a place where an organism lives. We call it home. There is food, water and air in a habitat to keep the organism alive.

+ The environment of a habitat is made up of all the factors that can affect the growth, development and survival of the organisms living there. Environment Includes: 1.Temperature of the habitat. 2.Amount of water available in the habitat. 3.Type of soil in the habitat. 4.Organisms living in the habitat. ?

+ The environment of a forest is different from that of a desert. The temperature in a desert is higher than the temperature in the a forest. Can the chimpanzee survive in the desert?

+ Physical Characteristics of the Environment 1. Amount of Light Plants need light energy to make food. Therefore, the amount of light in an environment will affect the survival of plants.

+ Physical Characteristics of the Environment 2. Temperature Most local plants and animals survive temperature that we would find hot! Plants and animals tend to lose water as the temperature of the the surroundings goes up.
