What are classifiers: Classifiers are used to show movement, location, and appearance of an object, person, place, or thing. After a signer indicates a person or thing, a classifier can be used in its place to show where and how it moves, what it looks like, and where it is located.

CL:1 Is used to show long skinny things, such as a pencil, a pole, a person walking alone, or a person standing.

CL:2 Represents two people

CL:3 Represents inanimate objects: Car, boat, bicycle, bus

CL:4 Represents things grouped in a circle, lined up against the wall, birds on a telephone line, etc.

CL:5 Can represent an order or sequence, herd of cattle or horses, and a full auditorium or stadium.

CL:X Represents hanging clothes, hanging ornaments on Christmas tree, etc.

CL:B Represents a flat object such as piece of paper, magazine, newspaper etc.

CL:BB Represents a flat surface such as the top of a table or a shelf, top of a desk etc.

CL:^ upside down āVā Represents a person or a two-legged animal such as a woman, child, or gorilla etc. Also represents the action of walking, jumping, flipping, etc.

CL:C Represents a small container-like objects such as a cup, glass, vase, can, etc.

CL:CC Represents larger container-like objects such as a bowl, or trash can in which you use with two hands.

CL:F Represents small, flat and round objects such as coins, buttons, watch, etc.

CL:^(bent V) Represents any small or crouched animal or human such as a frog, mouse, child sitting down, a horse laying down etc.
