Menchu was an Indian. Born and raised in Guatemala, her life was plagued by poverty and turmoil. EX Thesis: She should be admitted into the Hall of Fame because she overcame these obstacles and fought for the freedom of her people.

9. (RDF) Although some might argue that Menchu was fortunate because she had work, she was treated very badly by her bosses. (E) She was not paid very much and she was forced to buy everything she needed from her employers (worldtrek.org) They charged way to much and kept her in poverty. (RDF) Finally, she was forced to work in fields where they sprayed deadly and vicious chemicals (worldtrek.org). (E) This cause many people to become sick. (CS) Clearly, Menchu lived through awful conditions. If she was able to overcome such obstacles, how could anyone deny her membership in the Hall of Fame?
