ENERGY CONVERSION PROJECT By: Tyler Guldan Bryce Cusick Kurt Pritchard Andrew Halcomb
2
The DEFLATOR Project consists of several simple parts Inclined tube This aspect presents potential energy in the fact that the ping-pong ball will build speed Open faced balsa wood Presents a simple collision and transfer of energy from the ping-pong ball to the golf ball Cup that catches ball (momentum) The energy from the golf ball is transferred into moving the pendulum Collision of Pendulum with balloon Transfer of energy to force screw into balloon and HOPEFULLY pop balloon
3
The Main Purpose? Using complex steps to accomplish a relatively simple task… Using complex steps to accomplish a relatively simple task… By doing this, Energy conversions are demonstrated. By doing this, Energy conversions are demonstrated.
4
Inelastic Collison VS. Elastic ► First collision shows a elastic collision Ping pong ball stops, golf ball moves ► Second collision shows an inelastic collision Golf ball is now connected to the pendulum
5
Potential and Kinetic Energy Project obviously does not function without some kind of potential energy Project obviously does not function without some kind of potential energy By having potential energy we have a means of transferring it into kinetic energy which will accomplish the task at hand By having potential energy we have a means of transferring it into kinetic energy which will accomplish the task at hand
