2 Front Cover- Name & Class Period Attach a cover with your class color: 1 st – white 3 rd – pink 4 th - blue 5 th - green 6 th - purple 7 th - yellow

3 Inside Front Cover Attach Grading Rubric (cut to fit if necessary)

4 Number your pages Start with 1 and number to 100, front and back All the odd numbers (1,3,5,7,9, etc) will be on right All the even numbers (2,4,6,8,10, etc) will be on the left

5 Table of Contents Title pages 1-3 Table of Contents Write Table of Contents on each page

6 Journal Response Pages On page 4 (the LEFT side of the notebook) attach the journal response example Journal responses will be on the left side of your journal, and you will use them to organize your thoughts for your notes

7 NOTES TEMPLATE On page 5 (the right side of your spiral) attach the notes template. Notes will be written from your reading & response onto the pages on the right of your journal. You will write text/quotes on the left of the line, and reader response & ideas on the right. Draw the template using this example on each notes page as needed

8 Keeping your Reading Journal Up to Date When you complete a journal entry, you will update the table of contents with 1)The date of the reading 2) The title of the of the book in bibliographical form 3) The pages the response is found in the journal

9 GRADING I will follow the Grading Rubric in the front of your Reader Response Journal for the entry. Each page of Notes will be given 5 points for: 1 point- template drawn 1 point- correct bibliographical form 3 points- completeness This means each entry is worth 10 points Point totals will depend on the number of lectures in the grading period.
