Ecozones of Atlantic Canada By Scott Strum, Suza Sternadel and Hilary Crouch

Atlantic Maritime Has a cool, moist climate, because of its relationship with the Atlantic Ocean Mainly made-up of hills and coastal plains Three-quarters of this ecozone is forested The forests include both deciduous and coniferous trees This ecozone is inhabited by such animals as the white-tailed deer and bobcats Some main human activities include forestry, agriculture, fishing and tourism.

Boreal Shield It is the largest ecozone in Canada It experiences short, warm summers and long, cold winters Soils are leached and in some parts can be swamp- like Forests consist of both deciduous and coniferous trees Located in this ecozone are many mammals such as raccoons, black-bears and wolves. Some main human activities are forestry, mining, recreation, tourism and trapping.
