3 Altus AFB (AAFB) is the U.S. Air Force's only Strategic Airlift and Air Refueling Training Center. In conjunction with our flying training mission, Altus AFB remains ready for Global Engagement.

4 AAFB’s primary mission is to train aircrews for the C-17 and KC-135 (and soon the KC-46). Our mission also includes Basic Loadmaster training and Boom Operator training.

5 WHAT ARE OUR REQUIREMENTS ? Similar to those of most small towns or communities, the base has on-going needs for services, commodities, equipment and construction efforts on both an annual basis as well as one-time requirements. These items are purchased by three buying flights. Two of the flights support our civil engineering requirements while the third flight supports all other base tenants needs.
