3. Altus AFB (AAFB) is the U.S. Air Force's only Strategic Airlift and Air Refueling Training Center. In conjunction with our flying training mission, Altus AFB remains ready for Global Engagement.

4. AAFB’s primary mission is to train aircrews for the C-17 and KC-135 (and soon the KC-46). Our mission also includes Basic Loadmaster training and Boom Operator training.

5. WHAT ARE OUR REQUIREMENTS ? Similar to those of most small towns or communities, the base has on-going needs for services, commodities, equipment and construction efforts on both an annual basis as well as one-time requirements. These items are purchased by three buying flights. Two of the flights support our civil engineering requirements while the third flight supports all other base tenants needs.
