Mali Elephants eat roots, grasses, fruit, and bark. African elephants play a multifaceted ecological role and are a Keystone species

The matriach has to memorise their entire migration route and the watering holes along it.

Where does it migrate to and How does it Migrate
Mali’s African elephants follow a counter-clockwise oval route dotted with water holes from the Niger River in the north to the Burkina Faso border in the south.

Why do they migrate and When do they migrate
Mali elephants must migrate to find the sizeable amounts of water and food that they need to survive. Mali elephants migrate once every year (Anually)
