Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles. As we grow older, it's important that we keep mentally alert. The saying; "If you don't use it, you will lose it" also applies to the brain.

What do you put in a toaster? The answer is "bread“, not "toast“.

Say "silk" five times. Now spell "silk." What do cows drink? Answer: Cows drink water, not milk.

If a red house is made from red bricks and a blue house is made from blue bricks and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a greenhouse made from? Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass (not"green bricks“).

This is the brain stem Right Hemisphere Left Hemisphere Mid brain And in the middle the Corpus Callosum

The brain stem controls the body’s functions such as breathing and instinct.

The mid brain controls our memory and emotions. Its important to keep calm when studying because if you are irate, or un-nerved your midbrain shuts down and no learning can take place.

The Left Hemisphere is responsible for language, logic, and detail.

The Right Hemisphere is responsible for music, creativity and visual/spatial skills.

THE Right Brain vs. Left Brain test... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise? If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

The goal is to improve our long-term memory in order to be able to recall and apply information when we need it. Improving Memory

3 tips for students… 1.Planning is essential – EG – Revision timetable (be realistic!) 2.Small chunks are best 3.Replicate the exam conditions as much possible – EG – Driving Test

 Successful students take a question-focused approach.  They predict likely questions and focus their revision around creating usable answers to those questions. How should you revise for your exams?
