Food Bank The first place I did my community service was America’s Second Harvest of South Georgia, which is otherwise known as The Food Bank. My job there was to sort Kix cereal from a huge box into small plastic bags. I was told to seal the bag, put a label on nutrition facts, and lastly, box them. The work was very time consuming, but my friends helping me made the experience better.

Goodwill was the second place that I did my community service. I had to sort clothes according to what condition they were in, and put them on a hanger ranging from infants to men. If the clothes had stains, holes, or it was not something I would wear then I was instructed to put them in huge bin.

Reflection Before I came to Valdosta I already had the experience of volunteering in my hometown of Stone Mountain, GA. I never thought I would partake in any service learning activities in Valdosta, but this experience has been great for me. I really enjoyed helping out at the food bank especially because it was for a good cause. I will probably start going more often to volunteer on my free time.
14
What did I learn? I learned that Community service is very important. I also learned about places that I can go whenever I feel like volunteering on my free time. I know that I have affected people everywhere in a positive way by doing community service. I now know that volunteering should be done out of the kindness of my heart and not just because I have to.
