5 HOW EQUAL IS IT? There are still some inequalities towards women Income is 62% of men’s income. Norway has one of the most segregated workforces in Europe.

6 EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES Norwegian children have the right to complete their education until 19. Enrolment of boys and girls is even. In 2008, 61% of students were female. However women don’t study all the same subjects as men. In 2008, only 45% of doctorates were completed by women. Primary teachers are mostly women.

7 HEALTH Norwegian women typically live longer than men. and longer than most other women in the world. Medical benefits are mainly given to people who are employed. Most Norwegian women only work part-time. Disabled women, immigrant or Sami, have difficulty getting a hold of proper healthcare and only have limited access to it. Elderly women who have been widowed only receive small shares of welfare state.

8 FAMILIES Many people live in single households. Many couples never marry. Divorce rate is 40.4% The divorce rate among those who marry is high. Same-sex couples have had the right to registered cohabitation. Marriages with one or both partners are of foreign origin Few families comprise more than two generations living together.

9 CULTURE Religion plays a big role in Norway’s culture, but other factors are on the rise. Immigrants coming into the country and their beliefs have started to become an issue. Fewer women have equal opportunities in sports. However more women engage in regular physical activity. Women are less represented in corporal sponsorships for sports

10 MIGRATION Immigrant population accounts for 11.4% of Norway's population Men: refugees/work Women: Re-uniting 40000 Sami’s in Norway

11 EMPOWERMENT Ethnic Norwegian men dominate in positions of power Women are encouraged to work in management for the state and municipality Women gained 40% of the seats in the parliament Women occupy about one third of the seats.
